How we can help

We are qualified senior social workers who started a private practice counselling service with a strong commitment to work whole-heartedly and mindfully to empower each individual client, whilst maintaining our core values of integrity, acceptance, empathy and respect.  Collectively we have over 35 years’ experience in supporting children, young people and adults.

Heart and Mind Counselling approach is primarily person-centred, meaning we are passionate about working together as a team and therapy is guided by our clients’ individual goals, aspirations and needs.  We work on building a trusting partnership with our clients in a supportive environment and will work together to identify the patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best.

Why counselling?

No matter what stage of life you are at, counselling can help.  Sometimes we all need extra help to open up about the challenges we are facing, and we can guide you through this in a safe and supportive way.  Throughout the counselling process we aim to help couples, individuals and families to gain clarity, insight and perspective. We provide a space to focus on your wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around you, assisting you to develop healthy coping strategies and find solutions.

There is no “set number” of counselling sessions because every couple, person or family that comes to our private practice is different.  Counselling is confidential and as Social Workers we are bound by our AASW Code of Ethics, anything that you say is private, unless we are required by court orders or there are significant safety concerns. We recognise that counselling can be a daunting experience to those that have never been or for those that have had a negative experience in the past.  Contact us for more information about the counselling services we offer, how we can help and to make an appointment.
