Adoption & Foster Care Counselling

We can provide adoptive parent counselling, which can either be one-to-one or couple counselling for adoptive parents that are experiencing challenges in their adoption journey.

This can include an adoptive parent's own struggles in areas such as relationship struggles, fertility, grief and loss or anxiety.  We likewise can provide similar support for those carers that are interested in or currently parenting children in a foster care arrangement.

We also provide counselling support where there are challenges relating to parenting an adopted or foster child with a history of attachment disruption, trauma, abuse and behavioural difficulties.  We utilise an attachment-based approach and can provide a dyadic counselling approach and/or play based therapy.

We have a background in working in local, past and intercountry adoption, as well as Western Australia’s foster care system within a Government Agency.  We are passionate about all children’s safety, stability and healing from past trauma.

We recognise that alongside many rewarding and positive aspects, this can be a very daunting experience for everyone involved in adoption and fostering and we aim to compliment any current service that is being provided in your adoption/fostering journey.
