Family Therapy

Parenting can present various challenges, many of them continue to change as children develop.  Parenting is central to family life, that when parents feel emotionally secure, all the individuals and all relationships with the family are likely to benefit.

Depending on your family or parenting situation as well as the challenges you are facing in parenting, Heart and Mind Counselling can provide counselling and parenting support and resources, whether it’s managing challenging behaviour, conflict between family members, family trauma or child-related developmental, physical or mental health problems.

There is a myth out there that parenting comes naturally and for most the reality is that it doesn’t.  Even for those that understand what it takes to be a “good parent”, it doesn’t mean that you can avoid the challenges that accompany it.

Reportable Family Therapy, Court-Ordered Family Therapy and Co-Parenting Therapy

We can also support children and families with issues surrounding separation, family violence and/or other family conflict.  Heart and Mind Counselling can provide therapy to families that require reporting back to the court on the progress of family therapy and/or therapy that is court-ordered.  These forms of family therapy are aimed at reducing conflict and enhancing the lives of children involved post-separation.

Heart and Mind can also offer co-parenting counselling to help parents to put any anger and hurt aside and aim to move forward in a civil manner for the wellbeing of their child/ren.  Co-Parenting therapy helps to reduce conflict, improve communication and implement helpful parenting strategies.  This can also assist in reinstating contact between parent and child where required.
